Victor and Ray live in Sydney, Australia. Victor is from Dublin originally and took his mother’s suggestion to go with a winter wedding at 25 Fitzwilliam Place.
They chose to keep their party at an intimate number which fit perfectly with the venue. They also knew they wanted to have a first look option for their portraits so that they could enjoy the rest of the day with their guests. This was a wise decision especially given it was the middle of winter and there is limited time for natural light.
I met them for groom prep photos at The Wilder Guest House. The Wilder is a perfect choice to accompany 25 Fitzwilliam Place for accommodation as it’s only a short walk away and also suits the contemporary/classic feel.
We started with groom prep shots in their beautiful bedroom. They had already prepped which meant the room was all tidy and ready for quick ‘adjustment’ shots and a few portraits before we headed down to their groomsmen. We made use of the hotels very cute conservatory dining room. Coincidentally the floral theme complimented their suits perfectly.
The vibe was totally chilled and relaxed. Victor and Ray took their groomsmen on out on a photo walk which helped greatly with the nerves and to create a nice build up to the ceremony. They very quickly settled their camera nerves and made some series magic with their pictures!
We walked down the canal and chose numerous spots along the way to shoot at. The vegetation is ever changing and the Winter light was just stunning. We then lopped into the residential area of Dublin two where we made use of the Georgian front buildings and the modern sculptures along the way.
Finally we ended up at 25 Fitzwilliam place to be met with a glorious sunset light on the street. It was a true blessing. Finally we ended shots in the beautiful venue in their Stapleton Bar and stairway before the ceremony started.
Victor and Ray brought the Ozzie sunshine with them last New Years Eve. They are a couple that warmed my heart.
“Dena, I recall the very day we made phone contact. I hold that day very close to my heart. I recall looking at my now husband whilst pointing to the phone and quietly trying to mouth, this is the one for us. We had been searching for a while and organising our special day from overseas is no mean feat. We were a little nervous as we asked, are you available on New Year’s Eve!?
The photos speak for themselves. Dena worked her way beautifully with the wintery Dublin lighting, the colourful Georgian doorways, the waterways and the slowly setting sunshine. The photos captured the city, the venue, us, our friends and family with perfection. Dena’s style and method to capturing those magical moments made us feel so comfortable. We left Dena to it, and Dena let us have fun and to thoroughly enjoy every moment of the day.
From day one to receiving the final photos, Dena was always in contact and would send us the occasional sneaky peeks of what to expect. Dena and the photography was an experience on its own. Not just a component of the wedding plans, Dena captured the day with ease, which allowed us to relax and enjoy our day.
