Dena Shearer contact Documentary wedding photography

Hi, I'm Dena Shearer

A documentary wedding photographer.

I’m a wedding photographer based in Dublin but travel all over Ireland to shoot weddings and elopements. I adopt a documentary approach to my photography and absolutely love capturing those magical moments that happen throughout the day. Your portrait sessions will be short and sweet but very creative, all the while feeling comfortable and undirected.

As much as your photography is important to me, so is customer service. From the minute you get in touch with me, I make it my goal to have an overall enjoyable, professional and relaxed experience.

I love to get to know my couples and have a great relationship before the big day. I believe this is important for your wedding photography and will allow you to be more natural and l forget I am even there.

Dena was a fantastic choice for our big day and we were thrilled with the natural moments she captured. Dena was really chilled, really got our brief and was so great to have around at the wedding. She captured so many precious moments and I would recommend Dena to anyone!

Aish & Paul

Dena is an incredibly talented photographer. [...] She was such a professional and is just such a lovely person. [...] We were on our honeymoon when the photographs came through. We spent hours looking at them and loved each photograph more than the last. Dena did a fantastic job of capturing the mood of the day and all the little things you can miss on the day as the bride and groom. Dena was such a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend her.

Dena is easy going, professional and meticulous in her research ahead of the events. She listens carefully and provides flexible guidance to her clients. I cannot emphasise any more on to how pleased we are with the photographs.

We like to say a huge Thank you to you Dena! Highly recommended your work, your experience and your attention to the smallest details. Many are seeing with professional gear, but not many could have your point of view behind the expensive lens. Each photo we're looking at is full of emotions. We're so glad that we had the chance to have you for our ceremony. Thank you again!

Julietta & Sam

I cannot recommend Dena enough as a wedding photographer to future couples. Her style was exactly what we were looking for which was a more documentary approach mixed with some traditional shots. Dena was able to capture the most important and emotional moments without we even realising she was there. She made us feel super relaxed and put us all at ease which was great on such an important day.

How I work

What is documentary wedding photography?

My goal is to be attentive whenever you need me but in the background when you don’t. I want you to feel as if I have looked after you 100% but that you hardly ever saw me on your wedding day whilst providing you with incredible memories to cherish of the whole day; I have literally been called ‘The Ninja Photographer’ :-)
I believe in providing premium customer service to my clients that goes far beyond just taking good photographs.

Meet Aish & Paul

A fairy-tale wedding

Paul proposed to Aish on her birthday, at the stunning 18th century Kilronan Castle, which is one of their favourite places. Therefore, it made perfect sense for the pair to celebrate their union at Kilronan.

Aish’s meticulous planning meant that the day went off without a hitch. Paul gifted her with the most incredible Valentino shoes that complimented her stunningly classic Suzanne Neville dress and polka dot veil. LOVE!!! A princess with sass!

Even though we had a terrible day of rain, that didn’t stop the couple from braving the elements and getting their pics done. Images that they will look back on and be proud of. Don’t let the rain get you down! Photographs in the rain can be some of the best!

The couple shone with love for one another and the people they had around them. It was pure magic from beginning to end for me and I loved being a part of it.
