About Dena Shearer
A portrait of a Dublin Wedding Photographer
Ever since I can remember, art has been the driving passion in my life. Whilst studying Fine Art at Rhodes University in South Africa I was introduced to the wonderfully inspiring world of photography and, from that first moment, I knew that photography would be a huge part of my life forever.
After finishing my studies, I moved to Dublin where I fell in love with the City while working as a staff photographer for The Dubliner magazine. After two years in Dublin my itchy feet took me off to travel Australia and New Zealand and, whilst there, I was blessed to work as a Portrait Photographer on Daydream Island in the Whitsundays. It is there that I first learned to connect with my model on a really personal level, which enabled me to find the beauty within and bring that shining through.
In addition to photography, I also have a great passion for travelling the world that we live in, and experiencing as much of it as I can. What really underscores this for me though is the rich tapestry of people I meet and work with along the way and the sheer unbridled joy that we can all bring out in one another.
About documentary style wedding photography
I am a wedding photographer in Dublin but travel all over Ireland for weddings and work abroad for elopements. I am focused on taking wedding photography that is unobtrusive, fun, candid and natural.
A part of my fascination with photography is the power a photograph has to immediately transport you back to that fleeting moment in time it has captured. It amazes how photographers can lock history in time and give us the chance to experience what they were feeling at a space in time, far removed from our own.
Maybe Shakespeare said it best; “A picture paints a thousand words”!
Natural, documentary wedding photography is a passion for me, and so is your day. I want to make sure that I look after you both in the best possible way with premium service, so you have a great experience on your special day.
Nothing thrills me more than helping a client feel totally at ease during the shoot and bringing forth the very best of themselves as a result.
When shooting couples, I am compelled to capture those precious moments of unspoken love; the unutterable intimacy of intertwined fingers, a locked eye contact. All those glimpses of perfect beauty crystallised for eternity.
