Before I start talking about the fantastic wedding reception that took place in Finnstown Castle Hotel I would like to start by congratulating Carol and Tim on pulling off one of the best weddings I have ever been to, let alone shot!

The day started out blissfully. A couple of fluffy clouds in the blue sky and a temperature we have only just grown accustomed to in Ireland. (Let us take a moment to think back nostalgically to those beautiful days please.)

I arrived at Carol’s parents’ home in Kilcock to the family and bridesmaids eating their breakfast in the garden. The boys, not far away, were in O’Keefe’s Pub watching a very important rugby match. The atmosphere in the air was filled with excitement, laugher and love. Carol’s entourage made me feel so at home. It was quite difficult not to feel as if I was part of this family for the day.

Whilst the girls were getting their hair done, I nipped over to O’Keefe’s Pub to catch the lads finishing off the first half of the Ireland match (perfect timing!). They literally put on their suits in the men’s bathrooms and then fixed their ties in any mirror they could find in the bar. I was loving every minute of this. We took some quick portraits in the bar and out the front and then I dashed back to Carol’s house.

To see Carol in her dress was wonderful. She looked just like a little doll. The bridesmaids were so besotted with the way she looked. It was adorable to watch. And then she walked down the stairs. Well, the look on her fathers’ face was priceless.

The ceremony just seemed to fly by. Before I knew it we were all wondering around the glorious gardens of Finnstown Castle Hotel. The weather was even more beautiful than it had been the whole day.

Carol and Tim took my suggestion of having their portraits done after dinner which gave them ample time to spend with their guests during cocktail hour. This approach has two advantages; my clients get to enjoy more time with their guests and I get to shoot in a much more beautiful light. Win, win!

After dinner we ventured out for our shoot. The sun was beginning to set and the light was golden.

These two do love with a sense of humour and class. They are both so relaxed and laid back. We spent most of the time chatting and laughing.

The Mixed Tape band drew everyone off their seats for hours of extremely energetic moves all over the dance floor. I must admit, there was plenty of hip movement coming from my side as I was shooting away.

What a fantastic day! Carol and Tim, I wish you the most fabulous life together. Dena xx
